Miss Sustainability here, although I usually go by Caitlin Rose. I created this blog as a way to help people become more environmentally aware, make a difference, and live a balanced life. Everywhere one looks, there is someone telling them to do this or do that, but how easy are these suggestions? Even if they give a reason as to why we must change our behaviors, they don’t always make that reason clear, or the person making the suggestion isn’t relatable. This blog is my way of changing that.
I am 23 and a recent graduate from Arizona State University. It took a while for me to decide what needs to remain a hobby and what I have a true passion for, but eventually I earned my Bachelor of Science in Sustainability along with an Associates in Fine Art from Scottsdale Community College.
Every day I heard about what is wrong with the world and suggestions on how to fix it. Most of the people in my classes could easily fit in the stereotypical “Hippie” category. They would become visibly confused when I told them I’m not vegan and drive a truck. I didn’t fit in, but my love of the environment makes me want to still do my part. I want to help this planet and its inhabitants.
My goal is to try all those things “professionals” suggest, and see what is reasonable. I’m going to read everything I can and share it with as many people as possible. Most people I know who live unsustainable lives are just ignorant on the subject. It’s time for everyone to be aware of their surroundings and the impact they make.
Is this blog going to solve world hunger? It’s a nice thought, but no. Could it help people make the behavioral shift to something more sustaining? Seems possible. Every bit helps right?
