To me, sustainability isn’t about just focusing on saving animals from extinction or worrying about a city’s carbon footprint. It is also about promoting an all-around healthy lifestyle.
For instance, eating organic is not only good for the environment, but good for one’s health. Making food from scratch can be more nutritious, while keeping packaging out of landfills. Even sleeping well and exercising is helpful. It is great for everyone’s mental health, and by being in a better state of mind, people are more equipped to make a difference.
When it comes down to it, if you care about yourself, you are more likely to care about others. It’s easy to tie self-deprivation into being eco-friendly. Seems like everywhere one turns it’s “Stop doing this,” or, “Stop eating that,” but it doesn’t have to be. Yes, it might require a lifestyle change, but in the long run, it creates healthy, happier people.
